The following is a transcript from the Pro America Report.
Welcome, welcome, welcome. Ed Martin here on the Pro America Report. Great to be together. We’ve got a lot to cover, and I’m going to cover the big news, which you might have seen if you’re on social media. I was listed by name on a request… I guess it wasn’t technically a subpoena, but a request by the January 6 Commission – Pelosi’s Show Trial Group.
They put my name on a list. They were requesting records from the White House, my correspondence with the White House. So I’ll talk about that. But the reason I don’t want to talk about it yet is because the reason that they’re dropping this kind of story is to try to get attention distracted from what’s actually happening in the country.
So we won’t be distracted. At the end of this program, in the last segment, I’ll cover what exactly I think of this fake subpoena of the records of my exchanges with the White House. So we’ll get to that. All right.
But before, let’s get to what you need to know, what you need to know is Biden is losing – at least a little bit – in terms of the policies that he wants to do.
Now, one of the examples of that is Donald Trump put in place a program that they called remain, actually, a policy, Remain in Mexico Policy. And what this did was required that people who seek asylum to America must remain in Mexico, obviously, until the cases adjudicated instead of coming into America.
Because what happened with a lot of these asylum cases is people got to America, they claimed asylum, got to America, and came, and they never came back. Or they were hard to track down, or they got intertwined in the country, in the nation, in lots of ways that made it hard to force them back out.
So the policy, it also made it easier to say, we’re gonna build a wall, we’re gonna hold a border, we’re gonna have a border. And so when you have asylum, okay, go over to that door right there. That’s the asylum door. Put your paperwork in. But wait in Mexico.
And when Briden got in, he was in such a hurry to gut the border, to make the border chaos. That what he did, was he just said, oh, I’m getting rid of the remain in Mexico policy. And he did it in such a way that it was improper. Now… and it was challenged.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton led the way. The case went all the way up to the Supreme Court. And just yesterday, the Supreme Court said, you can’t change the Remain in Mexico Policy unless you do it right, unless you do it according to the law.
Now, is Biden going to do it according to law? Probably. Is his House going to want to pass a law? Probably. But as to right now, you can’t come into office and sweepingly change all the rules and regulations without going through the process.
Now we should have a conversation on another day about how profoundly skewed our administrative state has become. Our government has become this massive bureaucracy where we have to deal with all this stuff. It’s not ideal, but it’s the system we’re in. It’s a system that Trump had to go through. Had to go through the system of getting this rule, policy in place, going through the process, and if you’re going to reverse it, you got to go through the process. That’s the point.
So that’s good. So Biden’s losing at least a little bit on the border there’s some control. Although the question is, if the border is so wide open, why are asylum seekers even bothering, going through the asylum seeking door? Just go rushing through.
Well, the second aspect, second place, where we’re seeing the Biden failures is Afghanistan, of course. I was out on let’s see, it was Tuesday night for dinner with two members of Congress, and I won’t tell you who they are. I’m not sure that they would care if I did, but I won’t bother. And these two members of Congress told me that the briefings that they’ve had about Afghanistan are so much worse.
The conditions on the ground are so much worse than the White House is saying. And here’s the wild part, the media, the fake news media is sick of it, and they’re sick of being lied to. So for a change, instead of them lying themselves, the media seems to be fed up with Biden. And so Biden is having to answer. His administration having to answer questions
They say, “oh, what is the definition of stranded?” Jen Psaki, the Press Secretary, said, nobody’s stranded. Stranded is a term that blah, blah, blah. It’s like the definition of “is.” Remember when Bill Clinton said, what is the definition of “is” or “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.”
But parsing of the words means you got a problem, and that’s what’s happening at the border now. I mean, excuse me. That’s what’s happening in Afghanistan now. Now it’s very clear that the Taliban have been dictating terms. It is very clear that things are a bit out of hand.
And here’s where I want to change up. We have to as a nation, get out of there. So we have to start rooting for the success of the people getting us out of there. It feels a little bit like Conservatives are rooting for a quagmire, for more of a mess. These are American lives. We’ve got to be careful.
Now, Biden is lying about it. That much is clear. He’s saying one thing in front of the press, in front of the people, the American people. And another thing is on the ground truth. That’s true. But that’s not news now. We now know that. We know the Biden administration’s lying to us.
The question is, how do we get out of there? How do we get the American people out of there. There was a report earlier today that some San Diego school had some students stuck in Afghanistan on a summer trip. And as someone point out, who’s going to Afghanistan this summer? It’s like asking, you know what Americans are left behind? I mean, in the last month, wasn’t it becoming clear you had to get out?
Why didn’t people get out? Now I know the answer by the way, some are there for their pay. Big, big money to be there and they’re workers. And again, those are their choices. But the situation is deteriorating almost hour to hour. And I hope and pray that the deadline of the end of the month, along with the fear of what would happen if they did cause bodily harm to Americans. I hope that deters the Taliban, but I’m not sure it will. I’m just not sure.
So that’s deteriorating. That’s a mess. Okay, next one, the gas prices are up again, and you’re watching gas prices up again, and people are getting fed up. They’re getting nervous about their going back to school. A lot more people are driving, a lot more people are getting their kids to school, and they’re getting nervous about the economy.
All of this wrap together brings the news, and here’s the ultimate news, that Joe Biden’s approval rating’s down to 41% in one poll from 48%. It’s a massive drop, which explains the last part of how Biden’s failing, which is in the House of Representatives in the last 48 hours, I guess, actually, 24 hours now they passed a half measure of their infrastructure bill and a half measure of their big, massive spending bill.
In other words, Pelosi couldn’t get it through because the moderate Democrats were saying, “We’re not going for this. We’re not ending our career because of you.”
So what you have is now a perfect storm if you’re Biden of things going against you and time is your enemy. Now, I still worry every day about whether 2022 will be a free and fair election, because it’s hard to picture a free and fair election after what we saw in 2020. The misleading polls, the changing of the rules and laws, all those things.
So I’m not sure 2022 is going to come off easily. But if the election was today, 2022 would be landslides for Republicans in both the House and Senate, the federal races. Which brings us to the next point, what happens in two and a half weeks if Gavin Newsom is recalled and Larry Elder becomes governor? What happens seven weeks after that
if Virginia’s governors race goes down to the wire and the Republican beats Terry McAuliffe? I mean, we’re starting to see what happens in politics, like a lot of things, like most things, but even more profoundly, actually, it’s kind of a herd mentality.
Once they get, the conventional wisdom goes a certain way, politicians run that way, and it looks like Democrats are going to start running for the door – retiring, not running for reelection – or looking for ways to run to the middle, to the moderate side.
So think about that. What Biden is overseeing is – gas prices high with inflation going up. Afghanistan an absolute quagmire. The border, an absolute disaster that more and more people are knowing. And by the way, the Supreme Court case in the last 24 hours is a hook that people can hear how Biden’s policy…
Remember, you got to get coverage of these things, but it’s a hook. They cover the Supreme Court. And we go, oh, wow, they change the Remain in Mexico Policy. It’s over time these things have an aggregate effect. So and here we are watching all these pieces, and Biden’s numbers are tanking.
At what point is he sufficiently toxic that his party starts to step away from him? I’m talking about politics. I don’t think there’s anybody who think that they’re going to push him out. I don’t think you understand how this dynamic works. They’re happy.
Susan Rice, Ron Klain, Jill Biden. They’re running the country anyway. They’re not going to move anywhere, and they don’t get along with Kamala. But that’s what’s happening.
That’s the anchor that’s now weighing down Joe Biden’s presidency. And it may be the only thing that saves us from just some terrible, terrible policies.
All right, we better take a break. We got some great interviews, a new book. We’re going to talk with Melanie Kirkpatrick, got a book called Lady Editor. Fascinating book, a book about a woman. Great American success story, and a lot more. Be right back. Ed Martin here in the Pro America Report, back in a moment.
